LIFE PRACTICE
BASICS
1. What is the goal of Life PracticeSM?
The goal of Life Practice is
to provide you with an easy to use tool, which can be used every day of your
life to improve your health and well being.
Here are a few more details:
The elements and
recommendations of the program (exercise, nutrition, sleep and stress management) are
standards established by government and medical communities. Life Practice
is not in the business of selling gimmicks, short cuts or gizmos.
We do not accept
endorsements and promotions from companies or individuals. We will link you to
or, at times, recommend products or ideas, but we do so because we believe
these recourses are proven, safe and credible. Life Practice
cherishes its independence.
Life Practice
is simple, but it is not easy. Companies or products that claim that getting
fit or losing weight is easy are lying to you. We know that changing habits is
difficult; our job is to help you by providing you with a good coach and
support.
2. How do I know if Life PracticeSM
is for me?
Life Practice works for
just about everyone except people who don't want to
exercise and people who are looking for shortcuts and the "quick" solution.
3. I am overweight and don't get enough exercise and have tried
everything that has come down the pike. What makes you think that Life PracticeSM
will work for me?
Life Practice will work for
you if:
You are willing to be
coached
You are ready to exercise
and be physically active on a regular basis
You are patient with
weight loss. All that extra weight did not appear overnight and it will take
some time to get it off.
You are ready to adopt a
non-diet approach to weight management. That means: portion control, eating
smart, lots of fruits and vegetables, drinking water and healthy snacks.
If you're ready, we're ready: Life Practice
and your coach will provide the daily support and lots of motivation.
4. I don't think Life PracticeSM
is for me. I don't have to lose weight, I am fairly active and I think I am
pretty healthy. What's in it for me?
Although Life Practice is
an effective, stand alone, weight management program, it is equally effective
as a personal life balance tool. In our pilot testing and development, we found
that some of our greatest success came from hard-driving, "healthy" people.
These people found the Private Challenge feature (click here for more
information on Private Challenge) and the Life Practice
elements of Sleep and Stress Management particularly valuable. Many of these
"healthy" people found that there was ample room for improvement and
fine-tuning. Some found that they were not as healthy as they thought prior to
starting Life Practice .
5. What goes into the Life Practice IndexSM
score?
The Life Practice Index (LPI )
is a weighted index that takes all the Life PracticeT elements (physical
activity, strength training, stretching, nutrition, sleep, and stress
management) into account. The LPI
places an emphasis on physical activity. You should think of your LPI
as your daily report card.
6. How do I know what a good LPISM
score is?
A good LPI score is
somewhere between 60 and 90. Scores over 90 indicate you are taking Life
Practice too seriously and
could be obsessing too much over the elements such as exercise or diet. LPI
scores under 60 indicate that there is room for improvement. Over time a
"comfort zone" will develop and you will know that you feel your best within a
certain scoring range.
Important point: don't treat your LPI
like a grade in school. Your LPI is
a personal benchmark of improvement. When the score goes up, good things are
happening. When it goes down, you should work on bringing it back up.
7. What happens if I miss a day?
If you don't come to practice (enter your daily information), your score goes
down. Participation in Life Practice
is the very first step for a healthier you. We hope you won't miss many days,
but remember that good behaviors begin with participation.
8. Do I have to enter data every day?
No. We think the best approach is to enter your Life Practice data
every weekday, Monday through Friday. The program allows you on Monday or
Tuesday to catch up for data input for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the
other weekdays you can miss a day and catch up on the following day (but note:
Life Practice will only
"go back" two days).
9. What do I "do" with Life PracticeSM?
Do I read something every day or look at data? What happens after I enter data?
Life Practice is all about
changing behaviors gradually through "coming to practice". This means
participating by reporting your behaviors and monitoring your progress. Life
Practice provides a
complete suite of real-time reporting that enables you to monitor your
performance as often as you like. Remember, you are creating a series of data
with your daily reporting that will populate the graphs and charts throughout
Life Practice .
Secondly, we hope you will take advantage of the coaching forums. It's important
to "get connected" with your coach. This is a great way for our coach to answer
your questions -coaching you through the process of changing unhealthy
behaviors
10. Will I receive any reports or updates?
From the day you begin Life Practice
you will always have your own daily web page which is your own scoreboard. As
you continue participation in Life Practice
the suite of real-time reporting will display your own data in various charts,
graphs and reports. Every Life Practice
element is available to you on a real-time basis. The reports include physical
activity, weight management, nutrition elements, stress management, and sleep
habits. Life Practice also
reports on your established pace in each of the elements and your metabolism.
