My father died of a heart attack when he was 71. My mother
has had two heart attacks. I have one risk factor for heart
disease (family history) that I have no control over. My number
one goal is to control the risks that I have control over:
exercise, diet and stress (I do not smoke and don’t
drink much alcohol). If I can do this, I will greatly reduce
my risk of falling victim to what has plagued my parents.
With my doctor’s help (and the help of the Life
Practice
team), I can meet this challenge.
About 10 years ago I took a hard look at myself – sort
of a personal inventory or audit. On the surface, I suppose
I was healthy. In reality, I knew I was slowly losing my
health. You might call it death my inches. I rarely exercised,
I was drinking a ton of coffee and my diet was full of fast-food,
saturated fat and refined sugars.
My wake up call was an annual check up. My cholesterol numbers
were way out of kilter. This visit to the doctor was all I
needed. The concept of Life Practice
grew out of this “learning moment.” I was convinced
then, as I am now, that a regular exercise routine, good eating habits
and better sleep was the solution.
I was amazed at how a simple walking program, an old stretching
routine I used with the teams I coached, push ups and sit-ups,
and good eating habits turned my health around. The challenge
then (and now) is keeping to this routine. The challenge is
“coming to practice.”
I hope the simplicity and directness of Life Practice
appeals to you. If it does, join our team.
I urge you to join Life Practice™.
