Jim Grube - Getting in Shape

I was born in 1945.  From 1954 to 1968 I was always involved in some sort of organized physical activity.  While in school, I thrived on the drill of coming to practice on a regular basis.  I loved the feeling of exhaustion and accomplishment at the end of a practice session.  Although I never learned to play a musical instrument, the same sense of accomplishment exists from the experience of practicing music, or for that matter any acquired skill.

From 1968 to this very day, I have tried to keep this drill alive - "coming to practice."  When I am in a good routine, everything else works better - work, family, attitude, everything.  When I slip out of my exercise routine, everything suffers.

For me, in my life, Life Practicesm is the refinement of this simple, solid routine:

  • A good balance of exercise
  • Sound nutrition
  • Good sleep (real important and often neglected in other programs)
  • Letting go - working on controlling the stress in my life.

For me, the key has not been a specific piece of exercise equipment, or a particular book I've read.  The key is practicing the basics on a regular basis.  On any given day, it does really not matter if I exercise, or if I eat the right things.  It is the long haul that counts.  In any given year if I have exercised 250 to 300 times, I know I am on the right track.

If you are eager to get in shape, join Life Practicesm today and start practicing healthier habits.

I urge you to join Life Practice™.

"To resist the frigidity of old age one must combine the body, the mind and the heart - and to keep them in parallel vigor one must exercise, study and love."

-Karl von Bonstetten
