Meet the Team

Coach Jim Grube

Jim Grube is the founder of the Teamwork Company and the architect behind the Life Practicesm program.  Prior to starting the Teamwork Company, Jim was a college football and men's lacrosse coach at the University of Delaware and Middlebury College.  The transition from coaching to business was natural for Jim. The concepts of teamwork and practicing basic skills on a daily basis are as common to the business world as they are to sports and athletics.

From 1955 through 1991, the succession from one season to the next was a way of life for Jim.  He has enjoyed playing on teams all the way from little league through college. Jim graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a bachelor's degree in History and went on to the University of Delaware where he continued studies in History.  While at Delaware, he was graduate assistant coach in football and was later promoted to a full-time coaching position in both the football and lacrosse programs at the university.  Jim left coaching in 1991 when his wife became a college president.

Eager to face the challenge of starting a new career, Jim worked for two years with the Trane Company in Roanoke, Virginia.  It did not take Jim long to see the direct transfer of values from coaching to the business world.  People perform best when they work in a supportive environment and when a culture of healthy living is embedded within the work environment.  Jim saw the opportunity to start a health and fitness company and in 1993, the Teamwork Company was launched.

Jim would be the first one to express the limits and shortcomings of using the sport metaphor as the perfect example of teamwork and healthy living.  Today's sport culture is a reflection of many of the ills of today's world:  an obsession with the end result at the expense of daily discipline required to achieve success.  This said, Jim is a firm believer in the essential elements of teamwork and athleticism:  practice the basics on a daily basis, don't look for shortcuts, don't make excuses and place an emphasis on the personal habits that lead to health, stamina and productivity.  In short, practicing the basics on a daily basis is the foundation for everything else in life.

Life Practicesm is a direct reflection of these values.  Today, people desperately need programs and tools that allow them to compete and excel in a very complex and confusing world.  Jim feels that the most important piece to this complex puzzle is health, fitness and life balance.  Life Practicesm is the product of Jim's life goal to bring the true value of teamwork and practicing the basics to those motivated to work hard to improve their health.
