John Starr - Stress Management

We live in a world that is vastly different from our parents' world.  Digital technology has allowed our work life to invade what used to be reserved for family, friends, rest, relaxation and the simple pleasure of down time.  The ever present cell phone, pager and email takes work and the stress of our job with us everywhere we go.

For many years we have known that stress, particularly anger and hostility, has an impact on heart disease, A person who carries a lot of bad stress AND is also overweight, has a poor diet, is sedentary, or is a smoker is a person with a very high risk for a heart attack or stroke.  Most risk factors for coronary disease can be reduced, modified and, in some cases, reversed.

Life Practicesm helps us manage the bad stress in our lives.  The combination of moderate exercise, good sleep habits, a healthy diet and simple stress management strategies are the beginnings of a process that will bring control back into your life.  These basics also open the door for other helpful practices like yoga, music therapy, meditation and many other stress busters.

There are a lot of expensive and complex ways to attack the stress in our lives.  What Life Practicesm teaches us is much more practical and basic.  Many solutions are at our finger tip; a morning walk with a friend, five minutes of quiet controlled breathing in the middle of the day, simple stretching exercises, a good laugh.

Practice the Life Practicesm basics.  You will appreciate the changes in your life and your heart will thank you, too.

I urge you to join Life Practice™.

"Over the years your bodies become walking autobiographies, telling friends and strangers alike of the minor and major stresses of your lives."

-Marilyn Ferguson
